First Visit to our Fertility Specialist

The process of choosing the doctor and the clinic for your infertility treatment always starts with the initial consultation. It’s highly recommended that you come to our doctor together with your partner. The doctor will ask you about your past medical history and surgical interventions, reproductive system and allergies, the previous treatment and its result. We have a special Questionnaire which you may request before the consultation to be ready for the doctor’s questions.

If you have already undergone medical examination and know your diagnosis, you can choose the most efficient treatment plan together with our doctor, as well as discuss the timeline and the price.

In the New Life clinic the female infertility is treated by the Obstetrician / Gynecologist, who has special qualification in reproductology (knowledge of endocrinology, immunology, ultrasound diagnostics, etc.). The male infertility is treated by the Andrologist.

Woman examination

Gynecological exam

  • With the help of a gynecological speculum our doctor studies the vaginal mucous membrane and the cervix.  Colposcopy can be used for more detailed examination.
  • The doctor takes swabs from vagina and cervix for later testing. It helps us identify Chlamydia, Gardnerella, Ureaplasma, Mycoplasma, Candida, trichomoniasis and a lot of different viruses.
  • Cervical mucus is studied to diagnose ovulation and perform function tests.
  • Cytologic screening and culture and sensitivity test are performed if needed.

Hormonal blood tests

The following hormones are the main ovary markers: Luteinizing Hormone (LH), Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), estradiol, anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) and Inhibin B.

As menstrual disorders are very common for infertile women, our doctor will probably prescribe you other hormone tests: testosterone, lactogenic hormone, DHEAS and cortisol as well as thyroid hormones.

Progesterone is tested on the 20-22 day of the menstrual cycle. The basal progesterone blood test is taken on the 2-3 day.

Testing of antibodies to viruses

  • Roetheln
  • Chlamidia
  • Herpes
  • Toxoplasma
  • CMV

It is vital to know the state of your immune system before you get pregnant. For example, if our doctors don’t find IgG antibodies in your blood, we will advise you vaccination against Roetheln, because this disease often causes miscarriage.

Tubal patency testing

There are a lot of different ways to test tubal patency. Diagnostic laparoscopy is the most informative one. In this case, your inpatient stay in hospital is needed as you will undergo endotracheal anesthesia.

If you don’t agree to laparoscopy, you can choose either HSG (hysterosalpingography), echosalpingography or fertiloscopy.

  • HSG: uterine cavity is filled with contrast agent under the ultrasound control.
  • Echosalpingography: uterine cavity is filled with sterile physiological saline under the ultrasound control.
  • Fertiloscopy is almost a laparoscopy substitute. The endoscope is placed inside the vagina to study the tubes while injecting the contrast agent. Anesthesia is mandatory.

Tubal patency testing is performed in the contracepted cycle: on the 7-10 day if you take contraceptive pills, on the 18-22 day if you don’t.
