Spermogram

We strongly recommend you to make spermogram in a specialized clinic. You will get the result of your semen analysis in our clinic in one hour.

Spermogram is a serious kind of testing, that’s why we ask you to follow our recommendations.

Spermogram largely depends on the internal and external unfavourable factors. The sperm quality declines considerably under the influence of alcohol, nicotine, occupational hazards, psychological stresses, neurasthenia and exhaustion, acute and chronic diseases.

How to Prepare for Spermogram

For one week you should be eliminating:

  • alcohol – absolutely,
  • taking drugs (except from the essential ones),
  • X-ray examination,
  • sauna and hot bath.

Stresses and extreme temperatures are also contraindicated. You should minimize smoking and sleep well before your sperm testing. It’s recommended that you abstain from sex for more than 2 days but less than 5 days (if more, the amount of involution forms can rise).

Ejaculation is the result of masturbation in a specially equipped room. The sperm should be collected into a sterile marked container. Our embryologist will perform the analysis. You can get your result printed on the clinic’s headed paper in an hour.

The spermogram result can be as follows:

  • Normozoospermia (good result)
  • Teratozoospermia (sperm morphology is lower than normal)
  • Asthenozoospermia (sperm motility is lower than normal)
  • Asthenoteratozoospermia (motility and morphology are lower than normal)
  • Oligozoospermia (low sperm count)
  • Oligoasthenoteratozoospermia (all three indicators are low)
  • Azoospermia (absence of sperms)
  • Akinospermia (absence of active sperms)
  • Aspermia (no sperm at all)

Any of the above mentioned abnormalities of your sperm mean that you should undergo andrological examination, because an abnormality may be the sign of male infertility.

Sperm Testing

After 2 to 3 days of sexual abstinence you have your sperm analyzed. Under the embryological laboratory conditions our specialists

  • process it, wash and centrifugate it,
  • study it under the microscope, determining its quality,
  • put the sperm into the incubator in various media,
  • study it again under the microscope for one day,
  • draw the conclusion about the following procedures: insemination, simple IVF or ICSI.

We carry out sperm testing to study out which media we should use for sperm processing and define the sperm survival rate within 36 hours.

You can provide a semen sample in our clinic daily from 9:00 till 16:00, Saturdays till 14:00, no appointment needed.

What methods of male infertility treatment we provide

Depending on what has caused your infertility, our doctor can recommend you either conservative treatment (hormonal, anti-inflammatory) or surgery. If these methods are unable to help you overcome infertility, reproductive technologies (IVF, ICSI, TESA or MESA) can be useful.
